Our founder: Gilles Draps

Where it all started

At the age of 7, Gilles’ father handed him a disposable camera to capture some shots of his school holiday camp. There, among the snowy mountains of the Alps, the seed was sown for what became Burnt Salt Studio – a love of adventure, travel, and food, seen through a camera lens.

After more then a decade working in the food industry with chefs such as Nicolai Nørregaard and restaurants like Magma, Commotie or Kvitnes Gård, today Gilles leads Burnt Salt Studio.

Gilles, now based in Scandinavia, perfected his aesthetics by using the land as his inspiration. His close relationship with food and the crafts surrounding it ensures his style of imagery is genuine, intimate and moving.
